The Robotics Lab's Participation in Computer Science Education Week
Computer Science Education Week took place earlier this month all over America from December 5 to 11, 2010. The Robotics Lab contributed to these activities by visiting two different schools in Massachusetts, performing robotics presentations and workshops. On Monday, December 6, 2010, representatives from The Robotics Lab, iRobot, The Revolving Museum, and Artbotics traveled to the Advanced Math and Science Academy in Marlborough, MA to give robotic presentations and demos to the 7th and 8th grade classes. Presenters Diana Coluntino, Adam Norton, and Holly Yanco gave students an overview of their work in robotics and discussed careers in the field. They also brought along a few robots to demo; a Roomba and 310 SUGV from iRobot, as well as the Artbotics project, "Whadda ya lookin' at?" Lab member Adam Norton gave three "Intro to Cricket" workshops to students at Fitchburg High School in Fitchburg, MA on Friday, December 10, 2010. Each workshop introduced students to the programming language Cricket Logo, using it to control motors and sensors on Cricket cars. See photos here!
